Medicine seems to vary widely across cultures (who knew). If you take for granted any medicine that you can just grab at the grocery store/corner pharmacy: STOP IT! You may not be able to get even tylenol. These things can surprise you! Bring a little of whatever you might need or like to have. Also be aware of the customs regulations on what or how much you can bring. If you do need to get something while we are traveling, the following translations may help:

  • In Zurich and Basel a pharmacy will be called an apotheke or sometimes a pharmacy
  • In France, it will be a Pharmacie that you want
  • In Riva San Vitale and the surrounding areas, where Italian is the spoken language, you should look for a farmacia
